Happening

Happening is a Christian experience presented by teenagers, for teenagers with the help of clergy and lay adult leadership. The Happening program is meant to be one of the instruments within the Anglican Tradition of renewing the Christian church in the power of the Holy Spirit, so that the church may more readily respond to its call to spread the Kingdom of God throughout the world. It seeks to achieve this purpose by bringing young persons and adults to fuller personal knowledge of and relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ and to a deeper level of commitment and apostleship.
In the Diocese of East Carolina Happening is open to young people in grades 9-12. After participating as a Candidate in Happening, those young people may then apply to serve on team to lead subsequent Happening weekends.
Young people who serve on team are required to attend a team meeting and arrive the Thursday prior to Friday the event begins.
Happening 80* is scheduled for March 1-3, 2024 at Trinity Center. Registration and Team applications will be available in mid-November 2023
*Please note that in a typical program year there are two Happenings scheduled. However in the Fall of 2023 there will be a Revival with Presiding Bishop Michael Curry and all youth events typically scheduled prior to the Revival date, October 21st, have been postponed until their later dates.
