The Blessing Business

God is in the blessing business. Look at Abraham and Sarah. God layers blessing upon blessing, goodness upon goodness, promising them that God will make Abraham a great nation, that Sarah will laugh and bear children, that Abraham’s name will be great, that he and Sarah will be a blessing so that all the families of the earth will be blessed. Blessing upon blessing, goodness upon goodness.

God is in the blessing business. This is what God does for humanity. God blesses. God creates and blesses and calls it good. Not once, long ago, but now. In our lives, in our world, in our communities. God creates and blesses and calls it good. When it is good, when it has the hallmark of a blessing, it’s our assurance that it’s a gift from God.
