Youth@Convention

“Be it resolved that each parish in the Diocese be encouraged to select youth representatives to convention, and to fully integrate them into the parish delegation and withing all convention activities…” – Resolution from the 2000 Convention

We encourage and invite young people to participate in the life and work of Annual Convention. High School aged young people who come to Diocesan Convention are part of a unique group! Throughout their time at Convention, young people, no matter their role will be invited in to participate in the Youth@Convention Community.

Youth Representatives are distinct from young people who are elected as voting delegates from their parish. Serving as a Youth Representative is the primary way young people participate in convention. They are invited to participate on the floor of convention, having seat and voice during convention business.

Youth Representatives register using the same registration platform as all convention attendees, which can be found here: https://bit.ly/143conventionregistration. All fees and expenses for Youth@Convention Participants is covered by by their parish.

All young people will be housed together in a local VRBO. Adult Advisors for the ECYC will serve as overnight leaders and are all in compliance with Safe Church requirements in the Diocese of East Carolina. Also, in compliance with Safe Church policies young people MAY NOT stay in hotel rooms with adults not related to them. Young people may stay in a hotel room ONLY with a parent/legal guardian at their own cost.
