Fling Wide Its Doors

Jesus argues with the authorities in the temple. He laments their inability to see what God has revealed through John. He upsets the power brokers who are a stumbling block to those seek the Holy. But the kingdom of God will fling wide its doors, and invite the tax collectors and the prostitutes to dance through the doors first.

Jesus speaks to us today with the same warning when we fail to see God’s revelation; when we fail to see the people around us whom God loves, even when the world does not; when we offer only lip service to our faith and fail to fully embody it. Our work, as Christians, is to embody our faith not only in our lips but in our lives.
