Absalom Jones: America’s First Black Priest

February 13th is the day the Episcopal Church celebrates the life and ministry of Abaslom Jones. Jones was the first black person ordained as an Episcopal Priest. Absalom Jones: America’s First Black Priest is a children’s book that chronicles his life including how Jones bought his wife’s freedom before he could afford his own. He is celebrated Saint and hero in the Episcopal Church as well as an important figure in our country’s history in the fight for racial justice.
