Foodtrucks, Beach, & Fellowship

To celebrate Bishop Skirving’s tenure as Eighth Bishop of East Carolina, and all the wonderful events Sandy curated for us, we’re having a get together at Trinity Center!

Everyone is invited to Trinity Center for a thoroughly East Carolina event: foodtrucks, the Crystal Coast, and a time to share stories and hang out! If you’d like to attend, please RSVP by emailing the Bishop Transition Committee by May 1.

Keep an eye on this page for more details as we get closer to the big event!

A Farewell Gift for the Skirvings

Dear Friends,

As you may know, Bishop Rob and Sandy Skirving are planning a pilgrimage to the holy Isle of Iona, Scotland following his retirement in May. Iona’s history is defined by its role as a pivotal center for early Scottish Christianity, founded by St. Columba in AD 563 and becoming a major monastic hub that spread Christianity to northern Britain and Ireland.

If you could travel to one place you have never been, it would be… Scotland

The choice of location is not random. Indeed, even in his “Fun Facts” submitted with his nomination as a Candidate to become our Bishop back in 2014 (seen on the left), you can see this being a place most longed to visit:

The Isle of Iona is often described as a “thin place” or a location where the veil between heaven and earth feels ethereal. It is a place of rest, reflection, renewal, and discernment. As Bishop Skirving retires as the Eighth Bishop of East Carolina, Iona is the perfect place for him to be still and listen to what the Holy Spirit is calling him to do next in his ministry.

In gratitude for his many years of service to our diocese, we invite you to join us in contributing toward the Skirving’s pilgrimage to Iona. Gifts of any amount are welcome! Click the button below to donate.

The deadline for receiving contributions is May 15, 2026.

Thank you for your support!
