What does this love look like
Love God. Love Neighbor.
CS Lewis once said “Next to the Blessed Sacrament itself, your neighbor is the holiest object presented to your senses.” Jesus calls us to love God and to love our neighbor. Love and God and Neighbor are all intertwined in what Jesus came to give to us.
The love Jesus pours out is neither sentimental or easy. It is a love that is self-denying and self-emptying, love that will someday lie bleeding. This love will break the bonds of death. This love will shake the foundations of all that was to show all that can be. And somehow, miraculously, this love heals and frees us, and bids us to share that love with each other.
Love. Four little letters, one big word. Redacted to its simplest and most complicated form, the Gospels call us to this: Love God. Love Neighbor. What does this love look like, incarnate in our lives?
