Diocese of East Carolina Elects Deputies to 82nd General Convention
At its April 16, 2026 meeting, the Executive Council of the Diocese of East Carolina elected the lay and clergy deputies who will represent our diocese at the 82nd General Convention. Elected lay deputies are: Tess Judge, Joan Geiszler-Ludlum, Tom Tully, and Juniper LaNunziata. Elected clergy deputies are: the Rev. Josiah Daniels, the Rev. Tammy Lee, the Rev. Caleb Lee, and the Rev. Paul Canady. Alternate lay deputies are Tyrone Francis and Hannah Hutchens, and alternate clergy deputy is the Rev. Matt Overturf.
The General Convention is the governing body of The Episcopal Church, meeting every three years with representatives from dioceses across the country and around the world. Deputies vote on matters ranging from church budget and policy to theology and social witness. Serving as a deputy is one of the most significant ways a member of the Church can participate in shaping its future, and we are thrilled to send a gifted and faithful deputation from East Carolina.
We are grateful for the willingness of these leaders to serve our diocese and the wider Episcopal Church. Please keep our deputation in your prayers as they prepare for General Convention.
