Repair Café Workshop at Holy Cross, Wilmington
March 21 @ 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm
WILMINGTON, NC – Repair Café NC is pleased to announce its first event in Wilmington. It will take place on Saturday, March 21 from 1:00 – 5:00 PM at Holy Cross Episcopal Church, 5820 Myrtle Grove Road. The event is a free workshop for people to bring in their broken household items and learn how to fix them with guidance from experienced coaches. Basic tools and materials will be supplied. Items to bring include lamps, toys, simple electronics, small appliances, and small pieces of furniture in addition to clothes and jewelry.
The concept of Repair Café began in Holland in 2007 by Martine Postma as a way to promote sustainability. Today, events are held all over the world and have become meeting places for community members interested in learning repair skills and to re-using items that may have otherwise been thrown away.
While walk-ins are welcomed, it is advised that people register in advance.
Volunteers are also welcomed to learn and assist with the repair process. Click here (repaircafenc.org/volunteer) for the volunteer form and here (repaircafenc.org/wilmington-events) for the Wilmington event list.
Local team members include Dani Brennan, Jeanette Philips, Sara Dousharm, and Allison Rankin. For more information, please visit www.repaircafenc.org or contact Dani Brennan at [email protected].
