Standing Committee Announces Bishop Nominees

The Search Committee of the Diocese of East Carolina has announced a slate of three nominees to be elected as the Ninth Bishop of East Carolina by Diocesan Convention November 14-15, 2025 at the Maxwell Convention Center in Goldsboro, North Carolina.

Approved by the diocesan Standing Committee on September 4, 2025, the nominees are:

The Rev. Brian Cannaday, rector of St. Christopher in League City, TX
The Rev. Sarah Fisher rector of St. Catherine’s in Marietta, GA
The Rev. Caleb Lee rector of St. Paul’s in Wilmington, NC

Nominee Meet and Greets |
October 27-31 at various locations

All in the diocese are invited to meet the nominees at a series of regional meet-and-greets around the diocese. Details about livestreams and recordings of these meet-and greets are forthcoming. These meet and greets will include a question-and-answer element. We are currently receiving questions for our candidates. Please email questions to the Bishop Transition Committee. Questions should be submitted by October 10^th.

The Executive Assistant to the Bishop will provide the Bishop with full administrative support, and will have strong skills in organization, communications, planning and implementation, with the ability to regularly multi-task.

Registration is live for the Albemarle Deanery Youth Gathering! We will be doing a service project for the Tri-County Animal Shelter. Registration is by parish, not individuals. If you are interested in attending, please check with your parish youth leader. Parish Registration deadline is September 25th.
