Step Two of L.A.T.I.N.O.

Step Two: Finding Latinos in any given community.

In larger communities, there are often Latino Organizations, and if you are interested in working with the Latino community, developing a relationship with these organizations can be helpful. However, remember that in some cases these organizations are country-specific, so you may have to connect with more than one. In smaller towns, Latino stores, bakeries, or restaurants are where one can find Latinos/Hispanics. Keep in mind that the town may also have specific areas where Latinos may live, especially if undocumented, since that poses obstacles to accessing housing by regular means.

Community Resources for Step Two

Amexcan (Association of Mexicans in NC) NC Congress of Latino Organizations

Enlace Latino NC (Spanish Language News) The Hispanic Alliance (Greenville, NC)

Latinos United for Progress The Latin American Community Center Wilmington

UNCW Latino Alliance East Coast Migrant Head Start Project
