SUMMARY:Project Resource in East Carolina: Stewardship Training Series
DESCRIPTION:We are excited to introduce Project Resource\, a 5-week stewardship training series that provides the tools to inspire radical generosity and engage faith communities in this life-changing work. Project Resource provides teaching\, focus\, and adaptable resources to equip clergy and lay leaders to develop their year-round annual stewardship campaigns and to plan\, ask for\, and receive major gifts. Join us on the journey of changing a culture of stewardship here in East Carolina. The training series is free and open to all in the Diocese of East Carolina. All are welcome to register as an individual or a church team (Congregational teams of 2-4 people\, including clergy if possible\, would be fantastic)! We encourage congregations and individuals to do the series together when possible and find ways to gather. If you’re seeking a local site to gather with for the Project Resource Training Series here in East Carolina\, let us know\, and we’ll connect you to a local congregation for gathering with during the training series. Christ Church\, New Bern is one such congregation offering a local gathering space. If you need to miss a session\, all materials and the session recording will be shared following each session. Registration will be continuous\, but the sooner your register\, the sooner you’ll have access to the materials and recordings. We are meeting by Zoom for 5 consecutive Tuesdays from 7-9 PM: Tuesday\, April 9 Tuesday\, April 16 Tuesday\, April 23 Tuesday\, April 30 Tuesday\, May 7 All sessions will be recorded\, and resources will also be shared in a virtual binder. SUMMARY:Williston Community Choir at St. Cyprian’s\, New Bern
DESCRIPTION:Join St. Cyprian’s\, New Bern and the The African American Heritage & Culture Center for an evening of gospel and spirituals by Williston Alumni Community Choir. The choir’s history dates to 1984 when members of the former Williston High School Glee Club organized an alumni group called the Williston Alumni Choral Ensemble. In 2011 the Ensemble combined with The Wilmington Community Choir to form the current Williston Alumni Community Choir. The Williston School was founded in 1866 by the abolitionist American Missionary Association after the Union army occupied Wilmington during the civil war. It served freed slaves. The institution was closed as a high school in 1968 as part of desegregation. This caused disturbances\, resulting in the wrongly-convicted and imprisoned Wilmington Ten\, who became internationally known as freedom-fighters. The choir brings the heart and soul of the school’s history and the alumni experience to its rendition of songs of triumph and hope that will uplift our community.

A particular eye is turned to climate change and environmental justice – with hope for change and steps for living a more environmentally just life. Relevant experts will share with us ways to effect systemic change rather than just individual changes\, but leave lots of room for individual opportunities as well. Event Coordinators: Juniper LaNunziata (they/them) has been serving as the Director of Christian Formation at St. Paul’s in Greenville since 2016. They are a native of Pennsylvania\, but they’ve been living in North Carolina since 2007. Juniper previously helped create “A Festival of Creation” – an event focused on celebrating God’s marvelous world\, with an emphasis on combating climate change. They have repeatedly failed at container gardening\, but very successfully befriended the squirrels and birds in their yard. Juniper’s favorite animal is the Virginia Opossum; they’re always ready to share a possum fact! Ashley Simpson (she/her) is the Associate Rector for Parish Life at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Beaufort. An Eastern North Carolina native\, she spent her summers growing up on the Albemarle Sound and local beaches\, which led her to her love of the water. While she now serves as a priest\, her undergraduate degree is in Marine Biology. Her first job out of college was working for the Sound to Sea Environmental Education Program housed at Trinity Center. She enjoys learning about sharks and how everything in creation is connected (yay\, Ecology!).
