DESCRIPTION:Dear Diocesan Friends\,Trinity Center will begin accepting reservations for 2026 on January 2\, 2024! In order to ensure that all Diocese of East Carolina groups are given preference\, the conference center opens up availability on a first-come\, first-served basis\, in January two years in advance. This is done prior to the acceptance of reservations from non-diocesan events. Plan ahead to get the best choice of dates. Agreed upon dates will be held\, but you will not have to sign a contract or send a deposit for any 2026 dates until January of 2025. Openings for 2024 and 2025 are also available but on a more limited basis.To make inquiries or to hold dates\, please contact Chris Grenier at cgrenier@trinityctr.org or call 252-247-5600 ext.15. SUMMARY:​The Boar’s Head and Yule Log Festival at St. Mary’s\, Kinston
DESCRIPTION:St. Mary’s\, Kinston has been offering the Boar’s Head Festival as its annual gift to the community since 1990\, the 650th anniversary of the festival. This Boar’s Head tradition originated at Queen’s College\, Oxford\, England\, in 1340\, and is probably the oldest continuing Christmas festival. The performances are at 3:00 and 5:00 p.m. on Sunday\, January 7\, 2024 and mark St. Mary’s annual retelling of the tale. Entrance to performance is free and open to everyone. There will be a free-will love offering.     But why\, you may wonder\, a “boar’s head”?! The pageant of killing the boar is ancient: The Romans served boar as the first course at their banquets. As the Gospel spread throughout Europe\, the boar’s head came to represent evil’s ultimate defeat by the power of God through Jesus Christ.     The pageant itself follows a similar narrative arc. Beginning with a secular celebration as all of the characters gather for a feast\, the story dramatically shifts to telling the story of Immanuel: how God became with us in the person of Jesus. Shepherds\, angels\, and wise men soon join the more than 150 other people dressed up as peasants and nobility\, beggars and kings\, clergy and cooks. Everyone in attendance can relate to one or many of the characters and find his or herself uniquely placed in the end at the Christ child’s manger\, where all lives are made equal and no one is left unchanged.     Following the 5:00 p.m. performance\, a delicious ticketed banquet is offered. The banquet offers a full meal of wonderful offerings\, including wine\, all set in the king’s decorated hall. PLEASE NOTE: Tickets for the banquet have sold out.

SUMMARY:Winter Retreat 2024
DESCRIPTION:Winter Retreat 2024 is a collaboration between Camp Trinity and the Diocese of East Carolina Youth Ministries. Join 8th through 12th graders who are past Camp Trinity Campers and or\, young people from around the Diocese of East Carolina for a weekend of Camp T fun. You do not have to have been a Camp Trinity Camper nor do you have to have ever attended a Diocese of East Carolina Youth Event.   This event is staffed by former Camp Trinity Camp Staff\, so parish leaders are not needed.   Cost is $175 per youth and scholarship funds are available. DESCRIPTION:January 17\, 2024     Tapping Into Our Brainpower: Exploring Happiness Chemicals     The Rev’d Jess Elfring-Roberts (she/they) is Executive Director of Episcopal Camps and Conference Centers. She is an award winning improv comedian from Chicago. Jess has BA in Acting and Comedy from Columbia College\, Chicago and a M.Ed. from Moreland University\, Washington\, DC.     Jess is a lifelong Episcopalian\, formed for ministry in the Diocese of Chicago and served in camping ministries throughout college and beyond. She was ordained a Deacon in 2013 and currently serves at Church of our Saviour\, Chicago. Jess has been teaching wellness and improv to people of all ages for 10 years and incorporates that work into her ministry context. In Jess’s spare time she enjoys filmmaking and spending time with her family.   During this regular Formation Leader Gathering Zoom\, Jess will lead us explore the four key happiness chemicals: dopamine\, serotonin\, oxytocin\, and endorphins. This plans to be an interactive zoom designed to delve into the fascinating world of neurotransmitters and their role in our happiness.   Please select the time that works best for you. DESCRIPTION:2024 Forma Annual Conference: Radically Hybrid   Forma\, a ministry of Lifelong Learning at Virginia Theological Seminary\, is the professional network for Christian formation leaders in the Episcopal Church and beyond. Our conference offers an intentional time of networking\, learning\, and inspiration.
