We welcome Teresa Harrison to St. Peter’s to lead a course in the ancient technique of icon writing. This process inspires prayerful meditation while creating the art and reflecting on the finished piece. Participants will work on a new piece\, Christ of Sinai\, based upon what is thought to be the oldest Byzantine icon in existence. The two-day retreat includes Eucharist\, chant\, prayer\, silence\, lively conversation\, and free time. Icons will be written in acrylic paint and gold leaf\, a medium that resembles traditional egg tempera. Beginners and experienced iconographers will find this course rewarding. He is most recently well known for his YouTube broadcasts of Morning Prayer from the Deanery Garden at Canterbury Cathedral during the COVID-19 pandemic. On January 23\, 2023 he was named Dean Emeritus of Canterbury by Archbishop Justin Welby.
