SUMMARY:Come to the Table: A Food + Faith Retreat
DESCRIPTION:Come to the Table is excited to announce the launch of our Food & Retreats for 2025\, a two-day experience designed to deepen participants’ collective understanding of food insecurity and its root causes. Registration for our first retreat is now open! Join us at Camp Rockfish (Parkton\, NC) on March 12- 13 to engage with pressing questions and explore solutions that go beyond the surface of hunger. \n\n\nWho Should Attend?\nThis retreat is designed for clergy and laity who are engaged in food ministry work. We will tackle practical and theological topics as it pertains to food ministries\, so we encourage you to share this opportunity with folks in your church who would be a fit for this important dialogue.\nWhat to Expect:\n Over the course of four sessions\, you will: \n\nChallenge harmful narratives: Understand how the stories we tell about hunger can hinder meaningful change.\nExplore systemic causes: Dive deep into how food insecurity is tied to complex issues like poverty\, racism\, and classism.\nUnderstand history: Examine the role of welfare and charitable systems in perpetuating food insecurity.\nReimagine hospitality: Reflect on how our views of rights and hospitality shape our responses to hunger.\n\nRetreat Details:\n\nDate: March 12–13\, 2025\nLocation: Camp Rockfish\, 226 Camp Rockfish Rd\, Parkton\, NC 28371\nCost: $50 (covers lodging).\nLodging: Each registrant will have their own private room unless requested otherwise (queen-sized bed\, twin-sized bed\, and full bathroom) If you are local\, and do not need lodging\, there is no cost. Scholarships are available.\nFood: All (3) meals will be provided.\nSchedule: March 12 at 1:00 p.m. – March 13 at 5:00 p.m. A full agenda will be provided closer to the event.\n\nQuestions?\n For more information or to inquire about scholarships\, please contact David Allen\, Program Manager\, at david@rafiusa.org or 984-214-2816. \nRegister Now!
