SUMMARY:Poured into our Hearts: Youth Trip for Helene Recovery
DESCRIPTION:This summer young people from the Diocese of East Carolina who are rising 7th graders will have the opportunity to travel to Western North Carolina to support ongoing Hurricane Helene recovery. As we all know most parts of Western North Carolina and portions of East Tennessee experienced catastrophic damage as a result of this historic storm. We will partnering with the Diocese of Western North Carolina to serve in whatever ways we are asked meet the greatest needs during our time there. \nIn the 5th chapter of his letter to the Romans\, Paul writes: “And not only that\, but we also boast in our sufferings\, knowing that suffering produces endurance\, and endurance produces character\, and character produces hope\, and hope does not disappoint us\, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit that has been given to us.” (5:3-5) Young people who participate in this mission experience will not only serve others\, they will be an outward and visible sign of the hope we have in God and the love God pours in us to share with others. \nTo participate in this trip you must complete the application form. You will need a recommendation from your priest\, youth leader or warden from your parish. You must also be able to participate in a pre-trip Zoom meeting. \nDeadline for Applications is May 15\, 2025. \nCurrently this opportunity is limited to 20 young people. If there is more interest\, we may have the capacity to expand. \nCost for the Trip: $450* (Scholarship money is available). A non-refundable deposit of $100 is due with your application. Final payment be billed on June 15th unless payment is received prior to that. There are no refunds for the remaining $350 balance after June 30th. DESCRIPTION:Holy Cross Episcopal Church of Myrtle Grove will host a Back-to-School Wellness Fair on Saturday\, August 2\, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at 5820 Myrtle Grove Road\, Wilmington\, NC. This free\, family-friendly event is open to the community and offers children and families a chance to prepare for the school year with essential health services\, safety information\, and fun activities.
