CHRISTIAN FORMATION AND EDUCATION RESOURCES
Upcoming Christian Formation and Education Events in the Diocese of East Carolina
LINKS
There’s so much information about Christian formation and education available on the internet… almost too much. Which are in line with the teachings of the Episcopal Church? What’s easy to use? What’s free?
The following are links to free resources that members of the diocesan committee on Christian formation and education have found helpful in their own ministries. May you find them helpful in yours.
How can I get the adults more engaged during Sunday school class?
http://www.thethoughtfulchristian.com
The Thoughtful Christian offers free teaching tools to enrich any adult curriculum,
including tips on facilitating and asking good questions. This site also offers a discount for small churches on curriculum available for purchase.

What if my church doesn’t regularly offer adult formational opportunities?
Consider using bulletin inserts as a teaching tool! The Episcopal Church provides free weekly bulletin inserts on its ministry and mission. Past topics include the Millennium Development Goals, World Mission Sunday, and the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity. Spanish and English inserts are available to download.

I need some good Spanish language resources that still are in the Anglican ethos!
How can I support the faith journeys of children and their mentors?
Gather Round, a project of the Mennonite Church, has simple, practical suggestions on how to nurture faith in children as well as tips on how Christian teachers and mentors can care for their own souls.

Where can I direct people who are “feeling out” the Episcopal Church?
Explorefaith.org strives to be companions on the spiritual journey, offering food for thought and a community of fellow seekers. Its board of directors, all Episcopalian, hope that the site will, in some measure, help you experience God's love for all humanity.

HELP! I need some free curriculum!
For all ages…
The Episcopal Church provides free lesson plans that follow the Revised Common Lectionary for young children, older children, and adults. Different ideas on how to use the lesson plans and a basic supplies list are also available. The Bulletin Board offers a chance to interact with other Christian educators using the same lesson plans. An Anglican Approach to Scripture, In Dialogue with Scripture, and a bibliography for small churches are also supplied.
