From the Standing Committee

There was great joy and excitement on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at the Maxwell Convention Center in Goldsboro, NC, during the 142 Annual Convention of the Diocese of East Carolina. The Rev. Sarah Fisher, Rector of St. Catherine’s Episcopal Church, Marietta, GA, was elected as Bishop-Elect in the Diocese of East Carolina. Sarah will serve as the IX Bishop of East Carolina.

In the days and weeks to come, Sarah will be forced to make many decisions regarding her transition from a parish priest in the Diocese of Atlanta to her new role as Bishop-Elect and move to East Carolina. She must say goodbye to her members of her parish, friends and colleagues in Atlanta and decide where she and her wife, Mandy will make their new home amongst us.
